www.boxoffice.com - : For children who grew up during the '70s, few Disney films -- or franchises -- are quite so fondly remembered as ''Escape From Witch Mountain'' and its sequel ''Return to Witch Mountain.'' The film starred Eddie Albert as a camper who befriends two psychic children (Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann), helping them evade their evil pursuers in hopes of discovering the secret of their origin. It was classic Disney fantasy, reinvented for the impending science fiction age of ''Star Wars,'' ''Close Encounters'' and ''E.T.,'' which is more than vaguely resembles in many regards. It also offered a tantalizing fantasy for children: ''What if you had psychic powers, too?'' The sequel wasn't quite as enjoyable, mostly because much of the mystery was gone -- but the presence of Bette Davis and Christopher Lee helped lend star power in place of diminished originality. more...
