Apricot-hued daylight is dappling her, with one sunbeam accenting an outstretched leg. Secretly watching her, trying to find the courage to ask whether it's true she's dying, is her 12-year-old son, Steven (Nathan Watt). As caught by cinematographer Phedon Papamichael, the scene is almost fragrant with the maternal and mammalian.
