Set in Renaissance Venice, this sexually titillating soap revolves around a courtesan named Veronica (McCormack) and her fight for recognition as a woman of substance. Though in love with Marco (Sewell), a highborn playboy, Veronica is forbidden to marry him because of her relatively lowly station. To exact revenge, she goes about seducing practically every male noble in the Republic, and when things go sour for Venice, Veronica's fortunes turn.
