www.channel4.com - : A lover of war or a lover at war? McQueen, as flash command pilot Rickson, tries to be both in this rather ponderous and uninspired Second World War drama. His reckless nature in the air contrasts with his inability to adapt to a new role now the war is ending. He's been used to excitement and power, things missing from civilian life. Wagner is his co-pilot, whose admiration for McQueen starts to waver when he makes moves on his girlfriend (Field). Fine performances and some genuine battle footage add to the realism, but still this is nothing special. more...

When Bo meets young scientist Daphne Caldwell (Shirley Anne Field) and falls in love with her, Rickson's relentless competitiveness, even in love, threatens to push a terminal wedge between the two men as they prepare to make a vital bombing run against the oil refineries of Leipzig. more...
