Visually stunning, with wild dream sequences, the movie's beautiful-loser characters hang around a bowling alley and drift into a convoluted plot involving a roving band of Techopop/Nihilists, a kidnapped trophy wife and her wheelchair-bound husband (the title character). Bridges plays an unrelated, smaller Lebowski, known as The Dude. He's the perfect soft-boiled detective--a fat slob sucking down white Russians, stumbling through several double-crosses.
