Fortunately, this thrilling documentary about the life aquatic (think Winged Migration several leagues under the sea) doesn't just revel in the gory details of the ocean's food chain. It explores corners of our world we understand less fully than we know the solar system's more remote planets. Narrated by Pierce Brosnan, the movie works best when its cameras are slinking along the bottom, following adorable dolphins and crabs, water-adjacent animals like penguins and polar bears and, most heartbreakingly, trailing a gray whale mom and her child as they try to outrun predators.
