Overwiew :A Zoe Chip is an implant that records your entire life. When you die, the footage from your life is pieced together by an editor into a “Rememory,” a film that is shown at your memorial. A toy for the privileged, Zoe implants are changing the face of human interaction; however, there are those who are against this technology and believe that memories are meant to fade. Alan Hackman (Robin Williams) is the best “cutter” in the business. His ability to grant absolution to his often corrupt clients has put him in high demand. However, his talent for viewing life without emotion has shaped him into a distant man unable to experience life in the first person. He believes he is a “sin eater,” and his work provides him with the ability to forgive the sins of the dead. He hopes that if he exonerates others, he will somehow forgive himself.
While cutting a Rememory for a high-powered Zoe Tech officer, Alan discovers an image from his childhood that has haunted him his entire life. This discovery launches Alan on a high intensity search for truth and redemption. |

www.nypost.com - : New York Post - It's not a bad premise for a movie, but writer-director Omar Naim, a 26-year-old Lebanese native making his feature debut, proves equally inept at handling plotting, actors and pacing. He hasn't a clue how to integrate the main story with a subplot about a group more...

www.boston.com - : Boston Globe - This is a pretty great idea for a movie, touching on voyeurism, privacy, the inconsistency of memory, and filmmaking and movie-watching themselves. It's depressing to report, then, that ''The Final Cut'' keeps stuffing all that under the surface of a lugubrious suspense plot. The Zoe chip is mostly a rich man's toy but is starting to spread to the middle-class; a street-level resistance movement more...

www.eonline.com - : E! Online - Robin Williams--still pursuing darker roles--plays a ''cutter'' in the future. You see, in this future, some people get implants that record their entire lives, first-person style, so when they die, a cutter can edit together a cool movie for the funeral. more...

sfgate.com - : San Francisco Chronicle - The concept of ''The Final Cut'' is so fascinating and has so many implications that it balances out some real flaws in the story. Clearly, a sober, philosophical epic could have been made from this material, but the demands of the marketplace forced it into a thriller mode, and as such, it's not what it might have been. more...
