"Mothers hold their children's
hands for a short while, but their hearts forever."

Moms tend to love anything you give them.
Your their kiddo. You use to give her half fallen over ceramic pots painted
in every color under the sun and she still treasures them...how many decades
later... A piece of cake. Moms enjoy so many things that you just have to be
a little intuitive about things she would buy for herself.
Mother in laws...play it very safe...here
is a good rule, if you and your Mother in Law are not close you are not the
one to buy the gift for her. Your spouse is suppose to. You can help him or
her but Mom needs to know her child did the picking.
Moms, Mommy, Mama, Mother, Your Mama,
.....

You can always give the classic staples.
Flowers, perfume, candy. You may want to give this in addition to another gift.
Presents are fun to open and mom is no exception when it comes to liking opening
gifts on any occasion.
Mom will appreciate the thought you give
to a gift more than anyone else. And she will usually tell you what she would
like. Listen. If she is being conservative in what she asks for, probe, ask
questions, see what she really could use. If she needs a new washing machine
and you can afford it, get it for her and give her a little personal gift too.
You are one of the few people who can give her a special big gift. But always
keep in mind if you don't have the budget, she doesn't expect you to get her
anything big. Moms will understand better than anyone if you can't afford an
expensive gift and they will feel bad if you spend more than you can afford.

What to look for
* Gift that says love.
* Gift that says thanks.
* Gift that says you thought about it.
* Unusual, not just traditional.
How to find the Perfect Gift for your
Mother
* Look at the colors she wears. These
are excellent clues what colors she feels comfortable living around.
* See if she is currently collecting anything special. Many women collect collectibles,
themes such as angels, cats,...
* Does she have an upcoming event that she could use some special item to complete
her dinner table.
* Does she enjoy jewelry. A very popular Mothers Day gift is boy and girl charms
in the birthstone of her children and grandchildren.
* Does she have any hobbies she enjoys. Sewing, Movies, Travel.
* If she is into home decorating give her either something for the house or
a gift certificate to her favorite home decor store. You should go with her
at least preliminarily to help her select. Big decorative home decor purchases
are best left to her personally making the selection. A picture of you (and
you family) in a nice frame always makes a great gift for a mom. Particularly
a picture of you and her together.
* You can always show her you appreciate her by giving a gift that pampers her.

One of the best things you can do for
your mother is share your time and interests with her. She mostly want to know
about you. How you are doing. Emotionally, physically, financially. Share information
and interests in your life. If you are into going to plays, take her to one.
One you enjoy and you think she might enjoy. She maybe more flexible and open
to learning than you might think.

Moms are the most caring, sensitive and
emotional beings when it comes to their children. It is our duty to reciprocate
in the same way. And the Mother's day is the occasion when we can tell our mom
how much we love her. Mothers are not bothered about the type or quality of
gifts. It is our love which matters most to them. For them, well being of their
children is the best gift. Even a piece of paper with "I love you mom"
written over it will make your mom's heart go gaga. Here we are presenting with
some ideas which would make many of your gifts more beautiful. While picking
up gifts for your Mom, always keep in mind her personality, taste and choice.

* Cards - Add a beautiful rose to your
card and promise-card booklet for the mother who likes flowers and their fragrance.
* Flowers - A magnificent bouquet of flower basket makes a good gift idea for
your mom.
* Plants - If your mom is gardening freak then gifting her with plants of different
will make another great gift idea.
* Recipe Book - A recipe book is perhaps one of the most adorable gift ideas
to try this Mother's Day.
* Perfumes - Perfumes along with flowers are an instant hit with the ladies
of all age. Toiletries can also be added to them for a lady who is very particular
about her personal hygiene and cleanliness.

* Sweets and cake- These are the safest
bet with all women, no matter how old they are. A time tested gift idea, isn't
it?
* Household Items - As moms manage the household affairs, household items make
a great gift idea on this Mother's day. You may gift her with items and gadgets
that will help her in her daily chores such as a dishwasher, a vacuum cleaner
and a washing machine.
* Accessories - A wide range of things come under accessories, therefore you
have to keep a tag of what suits your mom best. For example, watches and handbags
suit a working mom.

* Free coupons - Free gift coupons are
a well tried gift idea, so pamper her with movie tickets or spa coupons. Gift
Certificate - Gift certificates also form a good idea- let your mom decide what
she wants and she can go on a shopping spree.
* Tour Packages - That's really exciting! Tour packages will give your mom a
deserving break from her routine life. While planning tour gift, keep in mind
the choice and tastes of your mom.

Shells
Waxed paper

the shell. While still wet, clean brush and add another color in another area;
subtly blend the colors together. Experiment with color combinations, such as
pink and yellow, yellow and green, green and turquoise, turquoise and purple,

medium. Using glue, glue some shells onto the side. Pour the glitter-sand mixture
onto wet decoupage medium, and pour off excess. Repeat this process until covered.
Let dry. To keep the sand in place, handle the bowl from the inside or the bottom.
5. Glue shells around the top rim. Let dry. 6. Fill the bowl with sand, sprinkle
a little glitter on top, and insert candles in the center.

9-1/2 x 11 inch piece of natural linen
Corner of vintage table linen

Cardboard for baking, spacer, and stand
Crafts knife
Water-soluble marking pen
Masking tape
Glue gun and low-temperature hotmelt adhesive

opening by drawing a 2-1/2 inch-wide bottom and 2 inch wide top and sides. Cut
out the opening. Cut out the shapes as for the precut mat.
2. Use a water-soluble marking pen to lightly draw the mat outline centered
on the linen. Mark a large X from corner to corner in the opening. Carefully
cut along the X, cutting almost to the corners.
3. Place the linen on the mat. Stretch the excess fabric to the back and tape
it in place. Stretch the outside edges, then the frame opening, clipping farther
into the corners as needed.
4. Cut a decorative corner (about 6 x 7 inches) from the table linen. Position
the linen on the bottom of the frame, overlapping the photo area. Glue the piece
to the front; tape or glue the excess to the back.

How to Buy a Mother's Day Gift
On this day set aside to acknowledge
the hard work and loving care that goes into motherhood, honor all the special
mothers in your life-- your sister, grandmother, spouse, friend, mother-in-law--in
these unique and creative ways.
Steps :
1. Offer Mom a chance to explore a new passion. If she's spoken of an unexplored
interest--such as art, music, gourmet cooking, singing or golf--sign her up
for lessons. Contact local community centers, teachers or clubs for references.
If she's always wanted to play the drums, rent a set and locate a teacher.
2. Buy a flat of plants or flowers for
her garden and plant them where she chooses; or put in a vegetable garden. (See
How to Start a Vegetable Garden.)
3. Make her sigh with a fabulous spa
day or a massage certificate, or book her a professional beauty treatment.
4. Get her computer hooked up to the
Internet, or buy her a cell phone with a family plan if she says, "You
never call! You never write!"
5. Plant a container with a lush mini
herb garden that she can snip at will while cooking.
6. Have some favorite family photographs
matted and framed for her to enjoy.

7. Take her to a local gym for a sample
session of yoga, tai chi or personal training sessions. Better yet, you go too.
8. Take her sewing machine in to get
serviced.
9. Gather your clan and book a professional
photographer to take a portrait of the whole family. Costs range widely, but
expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $500 depending on the studio, and the number
and size of prints you end up ordering. (See How to Hire a Photographer.)
10. Buy a gift certificate from a favorite
store where she usually wouldn't indulge herself.
11. Take a walk on the wild side and
buy her a pair of snowshoes.
12. Whet the appetite of a voyaging mom
with a Topo! GPS software program from NationalGeographic.com. The CD-ROM works
with a GPS receiver to plan her next ultimate adventure.
Overall Tips :
Create a Mother's Day gift with the kids. Ask them to draw and sign portraits
of Mom or Grandma, then buy simple frames and help them prepare and wrap their
gifts.
How to Plan a Mother's Day Dinner

Create a special evening for Mom
on Mother's Day or any time of the year.
Steps:
1. Determine how many guests you will have over for dinner.
2. Choose a menu. Keep in mind Mom's
favorite dishes and her particular likes and dislikes. Remember that your goal
is to please Mom, not yourself.
3. Make a shopping list. Include fresh
flowers for the table and for Mom.
4. Shop a few days ahead and prioritize
your efforts.
5. Prepare as much of the food as possible
ahead of time. Give yourself a lot of extra time to get the dinner ready. Mom
shouldn't lift a finger.
6. Consider hosting a potluck (at which
Mom doesn't bring anything) and invite your siblings, other family members and/or
neighbors and their kids. It's a great way to get extra help for the evening
and create a sense of family and community.
7. Clean the house and clear away any
clutter.
8. Set the mood. Light candles, decorate
the table and set it with your best china. Dim the lights if you'd like.
9. Take photos to commemorate the evening.
Combine the resulting photos in an album and give it to Mom.
10. Greet Mom with hugs, kisses and enthusiasm.
Offer her a drink and a cozy chair.

11. Shower Mom with gifts.
12. Make a toast. Share with Mom how
much you love and appreciate her. Invite others to do the same.
13. Make sure Mom doesn't help with the
cleanup. Ask her to do a project outside of the kitchen, like smell the flowers,
gaze out the window or read a book you've recommended. Let her relax.
14. Smile. Kiss and hug your mother.
Warnings:
This is not the occasion for you to get back at your mother for making you eat
brussels sprouts when you were 10. Be considerate, loving and generous, and
everyone is bound to have a great time.
Tips :
Buy a pretty notebook and invite all your siblings to write something that they
remember their mother used to do that meant a lot to them, maybe a meal they
used to make or a special joke they would have together. Present it to your
mother, and add to it from time to time.
How to Make a Memory Book for Your Mother

This memory keepsake book will remind
your mother every time she looks at it how much she means to you.
Steps :
1. Buy a beautiful, hard-backed writing journal with blank pages.
2. Purchase a few sets of stickers of
your mother's favorite things (birds, cats or butterflies, for example).
3. Peruse your photo albums and pull
out pictures of you and your mother, including pictures from when you were a
child.
4. Take them to a copy shop (such as
Kinko's) and have color copies made. Reduce larger pictures to fit on the pages
of the journal.
5. Sit down with a notebook or at your
computer and write down memories of the pictures you have chosen.
6. Write down several poems, quotes or
Bible verses that are meaningful to your mother or to your relationship with
her.

7. Write a personal letter to your mother
on the front page of the journal. Tell her how much you love her, what a great
mother she is and how you hope that every time she looks at this book she'll
feel special.
8. Cut out the pictures and paste them
onto the pages of the journal, leaving room (either on the same page or on the
facing page, if the photo is larger) to write down thoughts and memories next
to them.
9. Intersperse the poems and quotes you
have selected and decorate those pages with stickers.
10. Wrap the book with beautiful wrapping
paper and present it to your mother on Mother's Day.
Tips :
If your handwriting is too sloppy, print out all your memories and quotes on
the computer in a nice font with colored ink, cut them out, and paste them next
to the photos.
To get the best effect, buy a "craft"
glue stick made for gluing paper.
Always Remember.....

Mom has served countless
meals, washed thousands of dishes, kissed hundreds of "owies" and
been there to hold your hand for those monumental catastrophes as well as little
"molehill" disappointments .
While you may not have agreed
with everything Mom did or said, you could always count on your Mother's love
and care. Serve Mom royally, give your mother only the very best, and watch
the delight in her eyes. If mom is far away and you cannot travel on Mother's
Day, try telephoning, and let all the kids say "HI" to mom, grandmother
nana or granny.
When you send mom a card,
enclose a few special treats - such as pretty flowery postage stamps, a roll
of elegant address labels, or a unique checkbook covered that you made by applying
contact paper to a pre-existing cover, but personalizing it as only you could.

If mom is in a care facility,
make it a top priority to visit. Bring gifts that she will enjoy and treasure:
hairpins or combs that you have hot-glued birthstones of each of her children
or grandchildren; picture frames, a collage of small photos, teddy bears, small
boxes to hold "special" mom things, lap quilts, or personal items
in a carrying case you made just for her. Store bought items are nice, but hand-made
are exceptionally endearing and comforting to hold and admire time after time.
