Send Mother's Day Greetings

Mothers can sense your feelings with your gift, so it doesn't matter how expensive the gift is, as long as it is from the heart. However, it would be good if you could get an idea of her feelings too. Flowers & Perfumes are always a good choice. Personalized stationery, a calendar or greeting cards , a Journal or blank book for her to write her treasured memories in are some of the gift ideas. Invite your Mom to come and visit for a weekend. She can enjoy the grandchildren. Can take your Mom to afternoon tea at a local Bed & Breakfast or Tea Room. Make or buy a pretty new Bible Cover for her Bible or a Hardback Book by her favorite Author, a CD of her favorite Christian Artist or a Classical one.

For Reading you could have bookmarks, books, Journal, Dictionary, Book cover, magnifying glasses, one of those little night lights for the bed and if you are planning to gift a new Tea Cup and Saucer, make sure to include some special herbal teas. A Mother's Day Bath Basket can be made with just soaps, bubble bath, scented candles and a few other things that are your Mom's favorite, put in a basket with a big bow on top. A special show to the theater, or to the countryside, could fill her with the warmth of your care. Also convey your greetings to mother through crafts. Try out these great Mothers Day craft ideas.

5 x 2 x 2-inch wood box (available at crafts stores)
Acrylic pain
Paintbrush
Buttons

Epoxy glue
Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
Clear spray acrylic sealer
Child's spoon

2. Spray the box with acrylic sealer. Let dry.
3. Turn the base of the box upside down and epoxy the marbles onto the four corners of the box (these will act as legs for the box). Let dry.

Beaded Bookmarks Your Mom would never want to put that book down when it carries her favorite colorful bookmark.
You'll need:
17 inches of 3/8-inch-wide double-faced satin ribbon for each bookmark
Beads with large openings (available at crafts and discount stores); for the Fuchsia Bookmark, select 3 clear blue faceted beads and 1 white frosted bead; for the Fringed Bookmark, choose 2 silver beads
Multicolored silver-lined large rocaille beads (about 100)
25 silver seed beads
Beading needle
White beading thread

Instructions:
Fuchsia Bookmark:
1. Tie a knot 1 inch from the end of the ribbon. Slide beads from the opposite end of the ribbon up to the knot. Tie a knot on the other side of the beads to hold in place.
2. Measure 10 inches from the inside knot and tie another knot. Put on the remaining bead(s) and slide up to the knot. Tie another knot against the last bead. Trim the ribbon ends.

Fringed Bookmark:
1. Tie a knot on one end of the ribbon and trim the end close to the knot. Thread the beading needle and go through the ribbon knot to secure the end of the thread in the knot. String on 19 multicolored rocaille beads, then 4 silver seed beads. Take the needle back through the rocaille beads. The seed beads will form a loop at the end. Go back through the ribbon knot, pulling the thread so the fringe hangs below the knot. Repeat with another string of fringe. Make 5 strings. Secure the end of the thread in the knot.
2. Slide on a silver bead from the other end of the ribbon and pull over the ribbon knot holding the fringe. Tie a knot against the bead to hold it in place.
3. Measure 10 inches from the last knot made in Step 2 and tie another knot. Slide on a silver bead and tie a knot on the other side of the bead to secure. Trim the end of the ribbon.

Shimmering Shells Candle
You'll need:
Shells
Waxed paper
Iridescent paints in white, hot pink, purple, turquoise, yellow and lime green
Disposable plate
Small and medium flat paint brushes
Fine white glitter
Several cups of white sand
Decoupage medium
Glass bowl
Thick white crafts glue
Candles

Instructions:
1. Wash and dry shells. Cover work surface with waxed paper.
2. Place a small amount of each paint color on a disposable plate. You will use mostly iridescent white. Paint the entire shell iridescent white. While wet, add a touch of color to the painted shell. A tiny bit of intense color goes a long way on the white. Dip the tip of a brush into color and paint onto the shell. While still wet, clean brush and add another color in another area; subtly blend the colors together. Experiment with color combinations, such as pink and yellow, yellow and green, green and turquoise, turquoise and purple, and purple and pink. Add a third color or just paint solid. Let shells dry.
3. Mix about 1/2 teaspoon of fine white glitter into 1/2 cup of white sand.
4. To decorate glass bowl, paint the outside with a thick, even coat of decoupage medium. Using glue, glue some shells onto the side. Pour the glitter-sand mixture onto wet decoupage medium, and pour off excess. Repeat this process until covered. Let dry. To keep the sand in place, handle the bowl from the inside or the bottom.
5. Glue shells around the top rim. Let dry. 6. Fill the bowl with sand, sprinkle a little glitter on top, and insert candles in the center.

Linen and Lace Frame
9-1/2 x 11 inch piece of natural linen
Corner of vintage table linen
1 7-1/2 x 9 inch precut mat or heavy cardboard for mat
Cardboard for baking, spacer, and stand
Crafts knife
Water-soluble marking pen
Masking tape
Glue gun and low-temperature hotmelt adhesive

Instructions:
1. To craft a frame, cut a 7-1/2 x 9 inch cardboard rectangle and measure the opening by drawing a 2-1/2 inch-wide bottom and 2 inch wide top and sides. Cut out the opening. Cut out the shapes as for the precut mat.
2. Use a water-soluble marking pen to lightly draw the mat outline centered on the linen. Mark a large X from corner to corner in the opening. Carefully cut along the X, cutting almost to the corners.
3. Place the linen on the mat. Stretch the excess fabric to the back and tape it in place. Stretch the outside edges, then the frame opening, clipping farther into the corners as needed.
4. Cut a decorative corner (about 6 x 7 inches) from the table linen. Position the linen on the bottom of the frame, overlapping the photo area. Glue the piece to the front; tape or glue the excess to the back.
5. Place the side spacers even with each side and place the bottom spacer even at the bottom, forming a U-shape. Glue them in place. Glue the backing on the spacers. (There will be an opening at the top to insert a 5 x 7 inch photograph vertically.)
6. Score across the cardboard stand 2 inches from the top (narrow) edge. Glue the 2 inch portion of the stand to the back, scored edge facing down. Lightly bend the stand; insert the photograph.
