Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indonesia
This worldwide festivals have many other
Official names as Wesak, Visakah Puja, Vaishaka, Buddha Purnima, Visakha Bucha,
Saga Dawa, fo don, Phat Dan.
In Mahayana Buddhist traditions, the
holiday is known by its Sanskrit equivalent, Vaisakha. The word Vesak itself
is the Sinhalese language word for the Pali variation, "Vesakha".
Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti is widely celebrated on the full moon night
The Buddha was born on the Full Moon
day in the month of Vaisakh in 563 BC in India (Lumbini). He achieved enlightenment
as well as nirvana on the same date.

in Indonesia, Vesak (Wesak) in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The equivalent festival
in Laos is called Visakha Boussa and in Myanmar is called Ka-sone-la-pyae meaning
Fullmoon Day of Kasone which is also the second month of the Myanmar Calendar.
