Billie Holiday to me was my favorite singer.I've got records that go back to Ma Rainey.I liked Bessy Smith,I thought she was great,but when I hear Billie Holiday sing,ther is no comparison.I used to go a place on the south side of Chicago,and hear all the great ones,Lester :"Prez" Charlie 'the Bird'Parker,Illinois Jacquet,Sonny Stitt,Sonny Rollins,BenWebster, Coleman Hawkins,And of course Billie Holiday. | | |
