Yuya Yagira (柳楽優弥 Yagira Yūya, born March 26, 1990) is a Japanese actor from Tokyo. Performance of the 12 year old Akira in highly acclaimed Nobody Knows (Award winner of Cannes in 2004). He is Tetsumu in Shining Boy and Little Randy.
Yuya Yagira recently landed the starring voice role in director Shinichiro Watanabe's (Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop) "Baby Blue" Genius Party featurette. He'll play the role of a high school student who falls in love with his childhood friend. This will mark his debut as a voice actor.
He was hospitalized on August 29, 2008 for a drug overdose, with early reports calling it a suicide attempt. Yagira later denied that he had was trying to kill himself, noting that he was the one who called an ambulance after he began feeling ill from taking the pills.
