Tuc Watkins Detailed Biography
Tuc Watkins was born "Charles Curtis Watkins III" on September 2, 1966 in Kansas City, Kansas. Tuc's sister, Courtney, joined the Watkins family in 1968 and the family continued living primarily in the Prarie Village and Mission areas of Kansas. By high school, the family had moved across the Missouri border to St. Louis, where Tuc attended Parkway West High School. Tuc went on to Indiana University, where he majored in communications, with a triple minor in theater, psychology and French. Throughout his college years at Indiana University, Tuc dabbled in regional theater, and by the time he'd graduated, acting would be his chosen career. He returned to Kansas City to appear in Heaven's Hard, a production at the Missouri Repertory Theatre, then in the fall of 1989, moved to Los Angeles to get full-time work. Tuc quickly found roles in a handful of commercials (for Miller Beer, Snickers, and the U.S. Navy), then went through a brief dry spell that found him working part-time as a housepainter.
In 1990, Tuc started getting a few more opportunities. Unfortunately, his first big gig, a guest spot on the sitcom, Growing Pains, landed on the cutting room floor. Tuc's next role, however, in Chris Elliott's Fox TV sitcom, Get A Life, was much bigger and a little more memorable. More guest spots followed, including Baywatch, Sibs, Laurie Hill, The Edge, Santa Barbara, Sisters, Melrose Place, and a brief uncredited role in the feature film, Little Sister. At the same time, Tuc helped found a theater group with a few friends called The All-U-Can-Eat Players. Several theatrical productions followed, then Tuc got his first big break: the role of David Vickers on One Life To Live. Tuc moved from L.A. to New York City during his popular two year stint on OLTL, and managed to fit in an Off-Broadway play in the meantime. When his contract with OLTL was up, Tuc decided to move back to L.A., where he quickly landed a nine month role on General Hospital. More TV guest spots followed, including Silk Stalkings, High Tide, and a recurring spot on the short-lived series, C-16:FBI. In 1997, Tuc won the role of Sterling Scott, a vain but sweet soap opera hunk in the independent feature film, I Think I Do. The role won Tuc plenty of accolades and led to even more work. Guest cameos in the independent films, Can't Stop Dancing and The Thin Pink Line came next, and were followed by Tuc's biggest film to date, The Mummy. This portrayal of the mild-mannered, bespectacled Mr. Burns garnered Tuc even more notice and was immediately followed by the role of television executive, Malcolm Laffley, on the Showtime network's original series, Beggars & Choosers. Tuc's most recent guest starring appearances include the popular television drama, CSI, as well as the critically-acclaimed HBO cable series, Six Feet Under. In August, 2003, Tuc returned to Llanview in the familar form of David Vickers. The popular daytime drama, One Life To Live, has signed Tuc on for a three year hitch. Stay tuned.
