  • Turned down the role of Richard on the TV show "Titans" (2000).
  • Received an honorary doctorate from Pepperdine University. He was chosen because of his outstanding character and ethic. Tom Selleck is well known to both film and television audiences. On the big screen, he recently received praise for his performance in the comedy In and Out, with Kevin Kline. He also starred in the TNT cable movie adaptation of Elmore Leonard's Last Stand at Saber River, which was the highest rated movie in the history of cable television. In addition, he guest starred on six episodes of NBC's top-rated sitcom Friends, playing Courtney Cox's love interest.

Selleck became one of the most popular leading men in Hollywood with his starring role in CBS's action series Magnum, P.I. During the show's eight-year run, Selleck won both Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor, and was nominated several other times for both awards.

During hiatuses from the series, Selleck starred in a number of films, including the smash hit comedy Three Men and a Baby. His additional film credits include The High Road to China. Runaway, Her Alibi, An Innocent Man, Quigley Down Under, Three Men and a Little Lady, Folks and Mr. Baseball. He also starred in the cable movies Ruby Jean and Joe, on Showtime, and Broken Trust, on TNT.
