Tim Meadows Detailed Biography -
|
Tim Meadows most recently was seen on the big screen in The Ladies Man, a comedy based on his popular Saturday Night Live creation, Leon Phelps. His other film credits include Coneheads, It's Pat and Wayne's World 2. He will next be seen in the upcoming feature The Cookout.
From 1991 to 2000, Meadows was a member of the repertory cast of Saturday Night Live, where he was acclaimed for his uncanny impersonations of such pop culture icons as O.J. Simpson, Johnnie Cochran, Ike Turner, Michael Jackson, Don King and Sammy Davis Jr. He was also lauded for his portrayal of G-Dog in New Rap Sitcom and Nasty Dance, and as the host of The Quiet Storm, Lionel Osburne of Perspectives, and, again, for his most popular creation, Leon Phelps of The Ladies Man. In 1993, Meadows received an Emmy nomination for his writing on the show.
Meadows' television work includes recurring roles on the series The Michael Richards Show and Leap of Faith. Other notable appearances include Strangers with Candy (as Percy Kittens), Matt Groening's Olive, the Other Reindeer and the television movies The Even Stevens Movie and Three Days.
Born in Highland Park, Michigan, and raised in Detroit, where he attended Wayne State University and studied Television and Radio Broadcasting, Meadows moved to Chicago in 1985, where he joined the improvisational comedy troupe Second City. During his stint at Second City, he wrote and starred in the productions of The Gods Must Be Lazy, It Was Thirty Years Ago Today and Flag Smoking Permitted in Lobby Only.
Meadows lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Michelle, and sons, Isaiah and Julian.
