Thomas "Tomo" Turgoose (born 1992 in Grimsby, then Humberside now North East Lincolnshire), is an award-winning English film and television actor.
In his first ever film role, he played the lead character, Shaun, in This Is England, written and directed by Shane Meadows. His performance won the 2006 British Independent Film Awards honor for Most Promising Newcomer (On Screen).
On television he played the character Dizzy, a young boy mentored by Adam Solomons (Luke Treadaway), in the 2006 BBC drama series The Innocence Project. The program was cancelled after eight episodes due to poor ratings and negative reviews. Turgoose's character was in six of the eight episodes.
Turgoose appears in the forthcoming films Eden Lake and The Scouting Book For Boys.
He attended Wintringham School of the same town whilst filming This Is England and The Innocence Project.
He is currently attending a course at the Grimsby Institute of Higher Learning.
Turgoose's mother Sharon died in 2005; This Is England is dedicated to her memory.
He has three older brothers, Karl (22), Mathew (21) and Jamie (19).
