Steve Burton (born Jack Stephen Burton on June 28, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American actor. Having graduated from Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, California, he got his break as a surfer boy on the sitcom Out of This World in 1987.
He is best known for playing as Jason (Quartermaine) Morgan on General Hospital from 1991 to 2000 and from 2002 to the present. His first acting teacher was Brooke Bundy (Diana Taylor on GH). Burton's first GH audition was all about not fitting A.J. Quartermaine, and then, as his half-brother Jason – a better fit – it was all about fitting in with the much taller actor who won the role of A.J., Gerald Hopkins. So Burton added inches to his 5’11 frame to match Hopkins’ 6’1 frame by stuffing his shoes with paper towels to meet casting director Mark Teschner’s requirement that the brothers match heights.
Previously, he appeared on Days of Our Lives in 1988 as Harris Michaels, a love interest to Eve Donovan (played by Charlotte Ross).
Burton also appeared in the science fiction miniseries Taken and in the movie The Last Castle (2001) with Robert Redford and James Gandolfini. He provided the voice of Cloud Strife in the game Kingdom Hearts and its sequel, Kingdom Hearts II, as well as in the CGI movie Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and the video game Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.
Steve married Sheree Gustin on January 16, 1999. They had their first child, a daughter named Makena Grace, on September 5, 2003. Their second child, a son named Jack Marshall, was born on March 26, 2006.
Burton previously dated actress Tara Reid.
Burton has been nominated for several Daytime Emmy Awards won once in Best Supporting Actor.
