Smita Jaykar is an Indian actress well-known in her native country for frequently playing mothers and other supporting roles in Bollywood movies and TV shows.
A native of the Thakurdwar neighbourhood in South Mumbai, she is a Maharashtrian whose husband, Mohan Jaykar, is the son of esteemed Marathi barrister Barr Jaykar. She is renowned for her roles in Marathi-language television serials and scores of films which, since 2000, have included Astitva, Mujhse Dosti Karoge! , Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai , Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Pyar To Hona Hi tha, 23rd March 1931: Shaheed, Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa, Devdas, Chori Chori, Dil Maange More , Darwaaza Bandh Rakho and Baabul.
