Is the wife of well-known voice actor Simon Templeman, who is best known for voicing the character 'Kain' in the Legacy of Kain video game series. Has gained popularity among Star Trek fans for her long career on two Star Trek series including "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993). Has an action figure modeled after her character Keiko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Graduated from Pomona College, (Claremont, California) in 1978. Her ethnicity is Chinese Has a son. Turned down the chance to work full-time on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine so that she could spend more time with her family. But she instead agreed to do recurring roles in episodes each season. Rosalind's father encouraged her to audition for what would be her first television role on the 70s TV sitcom "Here's Lucy" (1968). Was enrolled in the communications department at U.S.C. where she hoped to go into broadcasting. After a disillusioning year at the CBS-owned radio station in Hollywood, Rosalind decided to return to acting. Her parents ran a successful restaurant near Disneyland. Along with Tim Russ, Jeffrey Combs, John de Lancie and Marc Alaimo, she is one of only five actors to make guest appearances in ten or more different episodes of 'Star Trek' ("Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) Season Four through Six and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993) Season One through Seven). While auditioning for the part of Keiko O'Brien on Star Trek, she was up against actress Patti Yasutake who also auditioned for the role. Rosalind eventually got the role, and Patti got the part of Nurse Allysa Ogawa on the same show. Made her first appearance at a Star Trek Convention in August 2005 at Vegas Con.

Rosalind Chao or Chao Jyalin (趙家玲 Pinyin: Zhào Jīalín) is a Chinese American actress born in Anaheim, California. Although various sources give her birthday as either September 23 or September 29 in 1956, 1957, 1959, or 1964, California birth records have her born on September 23, 1957. Her parents were amateurs in Beijing opera singing, and Rosalind Chao was in some small roles of some operas as a girl. She started shooting commercials at 7. After she graduated from Pomona College, her TV career began. Chao played as Keiko O'Brien (maiden name Ishikawa), a Japanese exo-botanist, in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the founder and teacher of a school on DS9's promanade, the wife of engineer Miles O'Brien, and a mother of two. Chao also appeared in both the television series M*A*S*H and its spinoff, AfterMASH. She first appeared in M*A*S*H during the last several episodes of the series as Soon-Lee, a Korean woman who fell in love and married Maxwell Klinger. In AfterMASH, she and Klinger moved to America where Klinger went to work for his former Commanding Officer, Colonel Potter. Chao plays one of the eight main characters in The Joy Luck Club. However, her favourite role is a minor one in What Dreams May Come, where she played flight attendant Leona, the physical manifestation of the protagonist's dead daughter. Chao has also guest-starred in The West Wing as Jane Gentry, and several episodes of The O.C. as Dr. Kim. Chao also guest starred in "Tour of Duty", Season 1 Episode 16, "Gray-Brown Odyssey" as "Li Kiem". Rosalind Chao is married to Simon Templeman and they have one son.
