Roberto Cavalli (born November 15, 1940) is a clothing designer. He was born in Italy where he started designing clothes for women and for men. His brand is known in many countries, and you can see or buy it in large retail stores. His clothes are not the cheapest, as they are made from high qualified materials. He also owns his own cafe in Milan.
Cavalli has been hailed as the new Gianni Versace since he uses sexy cuts and wild prints in his collections. He is most favored by rockstars and younger movie personalities. His main staples in his collections include mainly animal prints and crystal/rhinestone edging.
Cavalli is known for his lavish lifestyle. He owns several houses and villas. He is married to a former Miss Universe Eva Duringer (with whom he has 3 children). Many of his runway collections are inspired by items in his homes.
Cavalli is a close friend of ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham. She recently announced he is to be her personal fashion designer, and was given an exclusive contract to dress her for every occasion.
In January of 2006 Victoria Beckham closed out the menswear show by walking down the runway in a white gown.
Cavalli was the first designer to quickly publicly announce that he wanted Kate Moss as the face of his Spring 2006 collection very soon after her infamous drug scandal broke. Moss had already been the spokesmodel for Cavalli's Spring 2005 campaign a year earlier.
Recently Cavalli was accused to fraud and could face up to 2 years jail time. Apparently he tried to write off millions of dollars worth of renovations to his house as business expenses.
