After recurring roles on television series such as Six Feet Under and The Division, as well as a series regular role on The Grubbs, Chavira now has a starring role on the ABC hit dramedy Desperate Housewives. On this series, he plays Carlos Solis, and is credited under the name Ricardo Antonio Chavira. Chavira has a son named Thomas.
Chavira has become a breast cancer advocate due to the death of his mother due to breast cancer when Chavira was only 15-years-old.
