Rebecca June Cartwright Hewitt (born July 23, 1983 in Sydney, Australia), is more commonly known as Bec Cartwright. She is a well knownAustralian actress. She began performing at the age of 3, and done catalogue work and voice overs for many corporations. Bec's first commercial was, My Little Pony, for US TV and since then, Bec has appeared in more than 50 commercials. Some of these have included leading FMCG brands such as Kellogs, Pizza Hut, K.F.C, Colgate, Coca Cola, as well as an advert for Chrysler Jeep.
Bec has also starred in Police Rescue, Heartbreak High, Water Rats and Totally Wild.
Cartwright came to the nation's attention when she joined the cast of the Seven Network's nighty soap opera Home and Away in 1999, playing Hayley Smith. When Bec auditioned for the role, she had never dreamed of the success she would receive. She remained on the show until August 2005. Although she left the show, her character did not; Ella Scott Lynch took over the role of Hayley.
In 1999, her popularity was rewarded when she won a Silver Logie for Most Popular New Talent. She was also in a listing in WHO Weekly's 21 Hottest Stars Under 21. In 2002, Big Hit magazine's Reader Poll showed that Bec was voted the #6 Favourite Star in the World, #2 Best Female Star and #5 Hottest Female Celebrity.
She featured in, and won, the first series of the Australian series Dancing with the Stars in 2004.
From 2000-2004, Cartwright was involved with her onscreen boyfriend, Beau Brady. Shortly after their seperation, Cartwright began dating Australian tennis player, and long-time friend Lleyton Hewitt. After six weeks of dating, they announced that they were engaged.
Cartwright and Hewitt were married on 21 July 2005. The event was shrouded in secrecy, with reports of guests being required to sign confidentiality agreements. Despite this, they chose very public venues for the wedding (Sydney Opera House) and reception (Taronga Zoo). As a result, it was given much media attention.
On 5 May 2005, the Hewitts announced that Cartwright was pregnant. On 29 November 2005, Cartwright gave birth to a daughter, Mia Rebecca, at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital.
Cartwright has also been voted FHM's sexiest woman in Australia. It has been noted that Cartwright and Delta Goodrem have been friends since childhood.
She lives with Lleyton Hewitt in the Palm Beach area where Home and Away is filmed.
In 2002, Cartwright was signed to Warner Music Australia. In October that year she released "All Seats Taken" which was a top 10 gold hit. Then in February 2003, she released her second single, "On the Borderline". It entered into the charts at #30 and then moved up and peaked at #28. Then she released her self titled debut album Bec Cartwright. It had high expectations, yet it just missed out on the top 20 by 1 spot debuting and peaking at #21. She then released her third and final single titled "A Matter of Time". It hit the charts at #28 then moved up and peaked at #26, then it tumbled down the charts only spending 9 weeks in the Top 100. Later, in 2003, Cartwright and Warner Music split when they dropped several artists including Sophie Monk and Dannii Minogue.
