An ardent animal lover, Rahul posed for PeTA's campaign to free elephants from the appalling conditions they face in Indian zoos. Rahul also wrote a public letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra asking him to ban the entry of performing elephants into Mumbai after hearing of an elephant that was hit and killed by a truck.
When PeTA came to me with the proposal (for the elephant in zoos campaign), I knew it was something I would want to be associated with. The mark of a truly evolved civilization is that it treats its animals humanely.
