Rafe Joseph Spall (born 10 March 1983) is an English actor.
He landed an agent after he was spotted in a National Youth Theatre production of Nicholas Nickleby and has since appeared on TV and the stage, as well as in films such as The Calcium Kid (2004) Shaun of the Dead (2004), Green Street (2005), A Good Year (2006) and Hot Fuzz (2007).
He was named after the title character in The Knight of the Burning Pestle which his father played in the Royal Shakespeare Company's 1981 production of the play, and which Rafe Spall himself played in late 2005.
In 2006 he starred in three major BBC dramas The Chatterley Affair, Wide Sargasso Sea (TV), Dracula, as well as a radio adaptation of The Real Thing.
He will next work on Alaska at the Royal Court Theatre.
He has also worked with the band Arkane.
The son of actor Timothy Spall, he was born in East Dulwich, London, England. He attended the school Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College in New Cross Gate and is a former member of the National Youth Theatre. From 2004–2006 he was in a relationship with his The Rotter's Club co-star Alice Eve.
