Prashanth Thyagarajan (Tamil: பிரசாந்த் தியாகராஜன்) (born April 6, 1973 in Chennai, India) is a popular Indian actor. His Mother Tongue is Tamil.
Prashanth was born in Chennai to Thiyagarajan, a prominent actor and his wife Shanti. He has a sister, Preeti. He studied Computer Graphics and Multimedia and went to Trinity College of Music in London before embarking on an acting career. He completed his 12th grade and was enlisted in two medical colleges. That is when the film industry beckoned him. Adding to his educational credits are an MBA in systems and a Masters in Visual Graphics.

Prashanth had a very good opening. His first film Vaigasi Porandhachu was a super hit. Balu Mahendra directed 'Vanna Vanna Pookkal' and R.K. Selvamani film 'Chembaruthi' established him as the lover boy of South Indian Films. He appeared in M.T.Vasudevan Nair scripted Malayalam film Perumthachan also, which won him accolades. 'Chembaruthi' made him a Sensational Star in 1992,the year Vijay started off. His another rival star Ajith Kumar, who also made his debut in 1992, together acted in a film Kalloori Vaasal. His other notable films in 90's are Mani Ratnam directed Thiruda Thiruda and Shankar film Jeans. Kannedhirey Thondrinal is another notable hit for Prashanth.
Year 2000 started off with a smash hit Parthen Rasithen. He also starred in some well noticed films like Appu, Chocolate, Virumbugiren, Winner. Another major film was Tamil directed by Hari which became a Hit. An experiment with new roles in every movie and also introducing many new talents to the field made Prashanth's career reach an elated state. After that no film given him a break.
