Graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1995. 2002: Nominated for a Tony award for his role of Curly in Broadway's "Oklahoma". His father, John, is a TV anchorman and his mother, Mary K. is a professional singer and voice teacher. He was awarded the Charles Willard Memorial Award for Undergraduate Excellence in Music Theatre while studying at Carnegie-Mellon. Was a soloist with the Mostly Pops Orchestra and Canton Symphony Orchestra. He was offered the Oklahoma! lead after he sang "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" in an audition for director Trevor Nunn. His college roommate, Matthew Stocke, was later his understudy in "The Full Monty". He named his horse from The Phantom of the Opera (2004), Frodo. Was twice nominated for Broadway's Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical): in 2001 for "The Full Monty" and in 2002 for his role of Curly in a revival of "Oklahoma!"

Wilson, a voice teacher and professional singer, and John Wilson, who works as news anchor for FOX affiliate WTVT in Tampa, Florida. John Wilson was the news anchor at WAVY TV in Portsmouth, Virginia at the time of Patrick's birth. Wilson's brother, Mark, also works at WTVT in Tampa as a news anchor and reporter. His other brother, Paul, runs a successful media relations/advertising company in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. Wilson graduated from Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg, Florida and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On 18 June 2005, Wilson married Polish-American actress Dagmara Dominczyk, also a Carnegie Mellon graduate. (He graduated in 1995 with a drama degree; she graduated in 1998.) They have two sons, Kalin Patrick (b. 23 June 2006), and Kassian McCarrel (b. 9 August 2009).
