Made several documentaries, worked as science reporter for Cleveland TV station, then attended American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
After AFI, his boyhood friend from Denver, writer/producer John Wells, hired him in to write for "China Beach" (1988-91). After stint there, he enrolled at Harvard medical school.
Joined John Wells again, as writer on "ER" while he completed his internship in L.A. hospital.
