Misty May Biography

May has been an assistant coach at Irvine Valley since the 2001 campaign. Misty has a lot to offer the players and the program. She is currently one of the top professional beach volleyball players in the world and was an Olympian in 2000. Misty recently won the 2003 beach World Championships in Brazil in October with partner Kerri Walsh. She is also a three time All-American (1996, 1997 and 1998) and two-time national player of the year (1997 and 1998) at Long Beach State. Misty, who was a setter, played finished her playing career at Long Beach State in 1998 by helping the 49ers to a 36-0 record and the national title. The 1998 Long Beach State team is only one of three ever to go undefeated. The former Newport Harbor High standout is in charge of the setters and defense at Irvine Valley. She hopes to one day teach and be a head coach at the community college level.
