Michael Kors Detailed Biography -
Michael Kors (born 1959) is an American fashion designer. Kors was born in Long Island, New York and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
In 1981, Kors launched the Michael Kors women's wear line at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. In 2002, the menswear line was launched.
In contrast to the more upscale Michael Kors line, the MICHAEL by Michael Kors line was launched in 2004. MICHAEL, though still upscale, is more reasonably priced and available to the public. The line is sold in mid-end department stores such as Dillard's, Famous&Barr and Macy's and offers the exceptional quality and style of Michael Kors without the price tag. The line includes women's handbags and both a women's and men's ready-to-wear line.
The openly gay designer is a judge on the reality televison program Project Runway.
