Born on May 11, 1985,Matt Giraud is a dueling piano player and a finalist on the 8th season of the reality television series titled American Idol from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Dearborn, Michigan. However he was raised in Ypsilanti and graduated from Lincoln High School in the year 2003. He plays at clubs out in Kalamazoo, where he also graduated from Western Michigan University. He released an album called "Perspective" in 2003 and another in 2006 called "Mind Body and Soul".
American Idol was turning point in the career of Matt Giraud. He gave audition for the eighth season of American Idol in Louisville, Kentucky. He was regarded as judges' favorite in Hollywood. In fact Randy Jackson named him amongst his "top 5" early favorites. During Hollywood week, he performed "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5 with a group called White Chocolate, along with fellow finalist Kris Allen. He did not make to the finals initially, but was brought back for the Wild Card show, where he became a part of the Top 13. Giraud was the recipient of the Judge's Save on April 15, 2009.
