  • Began work as music director for Bette Midler's stage shows.
  • On "Saturday Night Live", Marc had a recurring role as the Sweeney Sisters pianist, Skip. Skip's always stayed silent during those skits. He eventually returned to SNL on the night of 1-13-1990 episode with Ed O'Neil and Harry Connick, Jr. to perform alongisde the SNL Band as well as conducting the orchestra during Connick, Jr.'s performances.
  • Wore a blue pimp outfit to the 72nd Academy Awards. Co-Best-Song-Nominees Matt Stone and Trey Parker wore provacative dresses.

Marc Shaiman (born October 22, 1959) is a composer and lyricist for films and theatre. His film credits include When Harry Met Sally..., City Slickers, The Addams Family, Sister Act, Sleepless in Seattle, The American President, The First Wives Club, Patch Adams, and South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut. He frequently works on films by Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner and Trey Parker. Shaiman has earned a Tony Award for his work on the musical Hairspray, five Academy Awards nominations, and an Emmy (plus two nominations). He lives in both Los Angeles and New York City with theater director and collaborator Scott Wittman, with whom he co-wrote the Broadway musical version of John Waters' film Hairspray.
