Lars Sven (Lasse) Hallström (born 2 June 1946 in Stockholm) is a Swedish film director. He is a son of the writer Karin Lyberg (1907-2000) and has been married to the actress Lena Olin since 1994.
Hallström learned his craft making music videos, and in particular those made for the group ABBA, which pioneered the era of the music video and also many innovative styles of film making. All of ABBA's videos were directed and shot by Hallström (excluding 'Chiquitita', which was made by the BBC, and 'Under Attack' and 'The Day Before You Came', which were directed by Kjell Sundvall and Kjell-Åke Andersson). After the international success of My Life as a Dog, he has been working with American movies.
