Kimberly Caldwell Detailed Biography -
|
|
Kimberly Ann Caldwell (born February 25, 1982, Katy, Texas) is an American singer most known for being a contestant on the second season of Fox Network's talent competition show, American Idol. She was the sixth person voted off that season.
Caldwell first sang publicly at the age of five at beauty pageants. She was a five time junior vocalist winner on Star Search, and also performed at the Grand Ole Opry. In 1995, she sang at the 50th wedding anniversary of former President George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush. She also appeared on the second and final season of Popstars: USA, where she was rejected from the group and told she would do better as a solo vocalist.
After appearing on American Idol, Caldwell became the first and only Idol contestant to pose for the men's magazine, Maxim, in a feature on "Reality TV girls" in the August, 2003 issue. That same year, she served as a correspondent for Fox Sports' extreme sports show, 54321, which only aired that year.
In 2004, Caldwell began recording her as-yet unreleased debut album with American Idol judge and record producer, Randy Jackson, and legendary songwriter Diane Warren. She has also been a correspondent reporting on American Idol for Fox News Live on the Fox News Channel, Ryan On Air with Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Showbiz Tonight on CNN Headline News, and the TV Guide Channel. Along with fellow ex-reality show performer Rosanna Tavarez of Pop Stars Eden's Crush, Caldwell is the co-host of "Reality Chat," a weekly talk show on the TV Guide channel that chronicles the ups and downs of assorted reality TV shows. Caldwell and Tavarez also report for the TV Guide channel from the red carpet at award shows.
She has recently attempted to move into acting, making an appearance on an episode of the short-lived FOX sitcom, Life on a Stick. Caldwell is reportedly reading scripts for other projects. She is also currently working to become a FOX News anchorwoman.
Caldwell is a smoker, which critics have noted will cause much harm to her voice if she indeed wants to become a successful singer.
