She has collaborated with Iggy Pop, R.E.M., the Ramones, Matthew Sweet, She was also a member of NiNa (along with Yuki Isoya), a Japanese supergroup.
She played in Athens, Georgia, and soon the club scene in New York City, with the B-52's at the same time as such bands as the Indigo Girls and R.E.M.
In 2004 Pierson opened Kate's Lazy Meadow Motel in Mt. Tremper, New York. Located near the Catskills in upstate New York and close to historic Woodstock. Lazy Meadow is a retreat in the wilderness seated on nine acres along the beautiful Esopus Creek. The decor is rustic modern and includes 5 vintage airstreams.
Her first job was as a nurse's aide in a nursing home. It was a very depressing job. Her second job was as a waitress at the Space Needle in Seattle.
