- 12/21/01: His fledgling career got a boost when he received a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry after the debut performance of his self-written song "Long Black Train". His debut album by the same title was certified gold within a year of its release.
- 10/5/06: Wife Jennifer gave birth to son Hampton Otis weighed 8 lb. and 12 oz.
- Wrote his hit song "Long Black Train" after listening to the Hank Williams collection in the library at Belmont University. He reports that he then walked outside and had a vision of a wide open space and a black train. He went home and wrote the song that night.
- His wife Jennifer is his female costar in the romantic music video for his hit single "Your Man." Josh, who is a devout Christian, commented that it would have been "very uncomfortable" if anyone else had played the role.

Josh Turner (born November 20, 1977 in Hannah, South Carolina) is an American country music singer. Turner posseses a very distinctive bass voice.
Growing up in church, Josh Turner sang baritone and bass parts in the choir. Turner moved to Nashville after high school to pursue a career in music and attend Belmont University. He debuted on the Grand Ole Opry on December 21, 2001 and sang a song he had written himself, Long Black Train. The audience raved over Josh and the track, sealing its fate as a future hit.
In 2003, Turner released his debut album, Long Black Train. In 2004, it was certified platinum thanks to the hit song of the same name. "Long Black Train" peaked at #13 on Billboard's US Country singles chart and received a lot of radio and TV airplay. The next and last single off the album was "What It Ain't." The song was a moderate hit, charting at #31.
In 2006, Turner released his sophomore album, Your Man. The title track and lead single reached #1 on Billboard's US Country chart. Your Man was certified Gold by the RIAA in 4 weeks. It took Long Black Train 12 weeks to attain Gold certification.
Turner is a Christian. He has written many songs about Jesus Christ and typically his songs represent his Christian values.
