José Manuel Moreno (August 3, 1916 — August 26, 1978), nicknamed el charro Moreno, was an Argentine football player. He holds the world record of being the only player to have won league titles in four different countries. As a teenager, Moreno was in the lower divisions of River Plate until at the age of 18 the Hungarian manager Emérico Hirschl selected young players from the club to make tour in Brazil. Thus, his first appearance in a first division game was against Brazilian side Botafogo. Since August 11, 1935 he was part of the first division professional team and was part of the Primera División Argentina titles won by River Plate on 1936 and 1937. But most famously, he was a key player on La Máquina (the machine) a team which astonished argentine football from 1941 to 1945, winning 3 titles (1941, 1942 and 1945). Transferred to Mexican Club España on 1944. In 1946 a league title in Mexico, he returned to his homeland and River Plate. On 1949 is transferred to Universidad Católica of Chile where he obtains another title. Back to Argentina in 1950, this time to Boca Juniors, he achieved a second place with the team. After going again to Universidad Católica, then to Uruguayan team Defensores de Montevideo and back to homeland's Ferrocarril Oeste, he joined Colombian Independiente de Medellín where he was both player and manager. There, he grasped another title in 1955, and his twelveth and last title in 1957. He retired with Independiente de Medellín in a friendly match against Boca Juniors in 1961, match where he was both coach and player. The match ended 5-2 to Independiente de Medellín and Moreno scored one goal.
