Sánchez was born in Miami, Florida and attended St. Theresa School and Belen Jesuit. He graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 2000 with a BA in English and Philosophy and from the University of Michigan with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. He currently teaches at Hebrew Theological College. He lives in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Elizabeth Wetmore, and their son.
Sánchez is primarily a poet, although his writing interests include fiction, theology, and spiritual topics.
