- Drafted by New York Yankees in 1990 in the 24th round. He made his Major League debut on September 4, 1995. Missed the 15 July 2002 game in Toronto to go to New York to be with his wife Laura as she gave birth to daughter, Paulina.
- His son, Jorge IV, was born with craniosynostosis and has had surgery four times. Posada started the Jorge Posada Foundation in 2002 to support families with kids born with craniosynostosis. Was suspended for 6 games on September 7, 2001 for arguing balls and strikes with an umpire. It was later reduced to 5 games after Posada explained that his son was in the hospital and he was playing in a daze.

Jorge Rafael Posada Villeta born August 17, 1971 in Santurce, Puerto Rico is a switch-hitting catcher and 4-time All Star who plays for the New York Yankees. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 24th round of the 1990 amateur draft and made his major league debut in the 1995 season.
Since debuting with the Yankees, Posada has batted .269 with 175 homeruns, 678 RBI, 588 runs, 235 doubles, five triples in 1145 games through 11 seasons. He has a career on base percentage of .375.
Posada has also been a member of three World Series championship teams—1998, 1999, 2000—and five American League championship teams—1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003. Posada has been a 4-time All-Star—2001, 2001, 2002, 2003—and a four time winner of the Silver Slugger Award in those same years. His best season to date was 2003, in which he hit 30 homeruns with .281 batting average and an on base percentage of .405 while driving in 101 runs.
