In 2002, Jodie broke the Australian 50m freestyle record. A gold medal in the 100m freestyle final at the Commonwealth Games followed with a 2nd place in the 50m final. She was also part of Australia's two gold medals in the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relays.
Jodie was first introduced to a swimming pool at the age of 18 months. "Living in Australia, my parents did what was sensible and enrolled me at the local swimming club," says Jodie, adding that she did not take kindly to the water. Getting up at 4.30am every morning might not sound like a lot of fun, but the success that I have achieved from following a hectic training schedule makes it all worthwhile."
Jodie says that she strives to be the best at what she does. "I give it 100 per cent every time I compete. I make sure that I race frequently in order to boost my confidence and my recent achievements keep me on a natural high, ready to take on the next challenge.'
Last year, at the Pan Pacific Championships, Jodie swam her way to two silver medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle and played a key role in helping Australia win gold medals in the 4x100m medley and 4x100m freestyle relays.
Jodie also holds the Australian records in both the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
