Jeff Christian (born July 30, 1970 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada) is an ice hockey Left Winger, that has played for many teams in many leagues. Drafted 23rd overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1988 NHL Entry. The colorful winger's nicknames include JC,Rudy, Sizzle and Juggernaut. Jeff has played in over 1000 professional games and scored over 1000 points. Throughout the various stages of his career Jeff has lead his team in goals, assists, points and/or penalty minutes depending on the season. Perenial fan favorite wherever he has played for his scoring touch and willingness to drop the gloves,Jeff was voted the Central Hockey League's Most Valuable Player during the 2006-07 season after leading the CHL in scoring. Born in Burlington, Ontario Jeff spent the first 7 years of his life in the tough east end of Hamilton, Ontario where he later trained at the famous McGory's boxing gym as a teen.Son of Hamilton Tiger Cat (CFL) Tight End Gord Christian, Jeff moved to the small village of Mount Hope and played hockey year round with his five brothers. Three of these brothers, Gord, Brandon and Michael played professional hockey. Jeff started the Jeff Christian Charitable Foundation that currently benefits children in the Tulsa area. ( www.jeffchristian.org) Debate over which was Christian's greatest pro season rage. Although Jeff scored over 300 points in three seasons while playing in the Central Hockey League (2005-08) many people feel that Jeff's best season was 1996-97 when he played 11 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL and 69 games for their top farm team Cleveland Lumberjacks (IHL). While in Pittsburgh, Christian tallied 2 goals and 2 assists with 11 penalty minutes. He was named Cleveland's Most Valuable Player that season after he lead the team in goals (40) and penalty minutes (262). Controversy came that season during the play offs when Christian was suspended for 20 games for allegedly shooting the puck at the referee after one of the worst calls in the history of sports. An outstanding all round athlete Jeff considers tennis to be his best sport. In high school Jeff was drafted by the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League 48th overall. His then high school basketball(Jeff was a power forward known for his defence and skyhook), attorney Bob Wynne, felt Jeff should forego the OHL and pursue a football scholarship. Jeff lead the Ancaster Royals to a championship 2 out of the 3 years he played high school football. A two way starter Jeff played QB and inside LB. Jeff decided to go to London, Ontario and was drafted the very next year as a 17 year old by the New Jersey Devils.
