Jason Joseph Connery (born January 11, 1963) is an actor who was born in London. He is the son of Scottish actor Sean Connery and Australian actress Diane Cilento.
Jason's acting career in television and film is minor compared to his father. He has also done much theatre work. He made his film debut in the 1983 film The Lords of Discipline. He appeared in the Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Varos in 1985. Jason also portrayed Robin Hood (a role his father had taken on in the film Robin and Marian) in the final season of the television series Robin of Sherwood in 1986. Connery became well known in England for this role.
He portrayed James Bond creator Ian Fleming in the 1990 television drama Spymaker: The Secret Life of Ian Fleming. (Fleming created the James Bond character which was the role that made his father Sean Connery a star.) In 1997, he shot a fantasy movie; playing the title role of Merlin in Merlin: The Quest Begins, directed by David Winning and filmed on location in Peebles, Scotland. In 2001, he appeared in Faithful Dealing in London, an English Restoration Whodunit produced by Dominic Madden. In 2003, he toured with a stage production of The Blue Room. In 2004 he starred as a main character in the children's show Shoebox Zoo and returned in the second series in September 2005.
He had a lead role in the film Night Skies, and a lead role in the film Lightspeed (2006). In his latest movie, Brotherhood of Blood, he plays a vampire hunter. 2008 will see his debut as director with the thriller Pandemic.
Connery was educated at Millfield School, a co-educational independent school in Somerset, England, and later at Gordonstoun School in Scotland.
From 1996 to 2002, Connery was married to the actress Mia Sara by whom he had one child, Dashiell Quinn Connery, who was born in June 1997.
