Dwyer was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He lettered two seasons, 1906 and 1907, for Penn under coach Cap Williams. In 1906, Dwyer helped the Quakers to a 7-2-3 record. Dwyer helped Penn to its fifth National Title. This came after an 11-1 campaign in his last year at with the Quakers. This title was awarded retroactively by Parke Davis with other organizations naming Yale as champion. This teams was led by All-American linemen August Ziegler at guard and Dexter Draper at tackle.
