Eugene "Gene" Reynolds Blumenthal (born April 4, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio) is a former actor turned writer and television director.
Gene grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and spent the first ten years of his life there. His father, Frank Eugene Blumenthal, was a businessman and entrepreneur. He is married to the former Ann Sweeny, a veteran stage and screen actress; they have a son, Andrew Reynolds.
Gene Reynolds' most prominent work includes his writing on the CBS television series M*A*S*H from 1972-1977.
Reynolds directed John McGiver's Many Happy Returns CBS sitcom in the 1964-1965 season. The program was based on humorous activities in the complaint division of a fictitious Los Angeles department store.
