Juicy Couture is a contemporary line of casual and somewhat dressy apparel based in Arleta, California, founded by Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy. Now owned by the Liz Claiborne fashion company, Juicy is known for their terrycloth and velour tracksuits as well as perfume and leather, velour, and terrycloth handbags. These such products are also known from celebrities that wear them.
The line is sold in upscale department stores (e.g., Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom's, and Saks Fifth Avenue) and specialty stores. The clothes are often associated with/by the many celebrities who wear them.
Slogans often adorn Juicy apparel, such as "For Nice Girls Who Like Stuff" "Smells Like Couture" "Be Juicy" "Cupid Couture" Viva la Juicy" "Her Royal Juicyness" "Wake up and smell the Couture", " Go Couture Yourself", "Cupcake Couture","Bundle Up, Wear Juicy", " The Joy Only Bling Can Bring", "Peace, Love, and Juicy", "Let Them Eat Couture", "Have a Juicy Day", and "Dude, Where's my Couture?, Choose Juicy". Some less usual slogans are "Save Fashion Wear Juicy", "Santa Juicy is Real" and "Sugar & Spice and Everything Juicy."Royal Order of Juicy" The signature Juicy Crest, as well as the phrases "Love, G&P" (formerly "Love P&G") are stitched on the inside tag of each item of Juicy apparel. The order of the initials changed in early 2006 after a lawsuit by the Procter & Gamble corporation.
Gela and Chris Nash and Skaist-Levy founded a company called Travis Jeans which specialized in maternity wear, especially comfortable jeans. This evolved into Juicy Couture, which started out as a relatively unknown brand of expensive T-shirts. The venture was financed by Jefery Levy, Skaist-Levy's husband who also served as CEO for 10 years, until the sale of the brand to Liz Claiborne. It later evolved into a full line of women's apparel. The brand was originally popular on the West Coast of the United States especially California, where their fashion lines focused on comfortable women's sweat suits and sportswear.
Juicy Couture added collections for men and children in 2002. Juicy has since added accessories, jewelry, handbags and fragrances. They also sell dog accessories such as dog carriers, dog beds, leashes and collars, dog toys, dog tags, and a variety of dog clothing. They have had their own Barbie dolls made in the likeness of Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy which were wearing miniature Juicy outfits and carrying Juicy logo shopping bags.
In 2003 Travis Jeans Inc, which owned all of Juicy's assets, was purchased by Liz Claiborne Inc for US $53 million, plus a percentage of future earnings. Nash-Taylor and Skaist-Levy remained co-CEO's. In 2005, Juicy Couture entered into a licensing agreement with Movado Group, Inc. to design, produce, and market watches. Additional licensing agreements were made for footwear, sunglasses, swimwear, baby products and a designer version of a Sidekick II for T-Mobile.
Juicy had also changed their tags on their products with many revisions. The updated tags used to feature a slogan "Made in the Glamorous USA" but now it has changed to "Born in the Glamorous USA"

Over the past few years, there has been a great expansion of Juicy Couture stores in California. Recently in the year of 2008, there have been at least two brand new store openings. One was in the city of Glendale while the other was in the city of Pasadena. Apart from that there are many other Juicy Couture stores located in various parts of California such as: Malibu, Beverly Hills, Sacramento, Camarillo, Carlsbad, San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Los Angeles, Corte Madera, Santa Barbara, San Jose, San Diego, and Newport Beach.
Juicy Couture is planning on opening up a store in Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, Ontario in the near future.
