Ross has produced several films starting with the 1988 film Big, which he co-produced. Ross produced more films, including Trial and Terror (1997) and Pleasantville (1998), which he also wrote and directed. In 2003, he produced the film Seabiscuit, about the legendary race horse. In the year 2008 he will produce three films, The Tale of Despereaux, Creature From the Black Lagoon and The Free State of Jones.
Ross started writing in 1988 with Big, in which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. In 1992, he wrote the screenplay for Mr. Baseball. In 1993, he wrote the screenplay for Dave, for which he was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards. In 1994, he wrote the Screenplay for Lassie. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie Pleasantville, which he also directed. In 2003, he wrote, directed and produced Seabiscuit, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2008, he will write the screenplay for three films, The Tale of Despereaux, Creature From the Black Lagoon and The Free State of Jones.
