Franziska Troegner is a "Berliner” in that she grew up in the city and still has her home base here. She was raised in a theatre family, as her father was an actor and a director and her mother a singer at the Comical Opera Berlin. At the age of 15 she played her first roles in the Youth studio of the Berlin cabaret "Die Distel”. After passing her A-level exams she received acting lessons at the legendary Bertolt Brecht Ensemble in Berlin. Having passed the exams to become a graduated actress (Bühnenreifeprüfung) and after playing first some smaller roles in productions of the Berliner Ensemble she was engaged by Ruth Berghaus who was the artistic director at the time. During her 20 years of engagement she played, according to her age, the best-loved and most sought-after Brecht parts such as the dumb Kattrin in "Mother Courage and Her Children”, Polly Peachum in the "Three-Penny Opera” and Grusche in "The Caucasian Chalk Circle.” On many guest performance journeys of the Berliner Ensemble with its productions of the "Three-Penny Opera” and "The Caucasian Chalk Circle”, e.g. to Paris, Athens, Milan, Moscow, and Mexico city, she received only the highest praises from the local press. She is said to be particularly proud of her work being regarded in The (London) Guardian of July 28th, 1987 as: "… To me, that is the essence of theatre,” relating to her part of the "Grusche” in a guest performance given in Edinburgh. Her theatre work unabated, she has continually played a part in a great many movie and TV productions ever since the beginning of her artistic career, and it was always of utmost importance to her to be allowed to show both her comic and tragic talents. In the most different genres, and no less in supporting roles, she managed to model people that left an imprint in the minds of the spectators and moved them lastingly.

Resulting from the work on the musical "Non(n)sense” (Dan Goggin) and in cooperation with Thomas Möckel, the play’s music director and assisting professor at Rostock’s Music and Theatre Academy (HMT), a common course in song, chanson and musical interpretation has been developed to be held at the Conservatory Schwerin as well as at the HMT Rostock and the Scala - Akademy for Song and Entertainment Berlin. Franziska Troegner took part in the jury for the 2nd Jeunesse Musicales Competition in 2002. Franziska Troegner is a member of the German Film Academy (Deutsche Filmakademie).

However, the direct contact with her audience is still an absolute essential to her. Therefore, she guests with solo evenings in Germany and Austria since 1996. A great satisfaction and a pleasant sensation it was when she was nominated for the German movie award (Deutscher Filmpreis) in 2001. Nonetheless, all of these successes seem to be mere stages in a long and ever promising career considering the fact that in 2004 she played for the first time with an international star cast (Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, James Fox and others) under the direction of Tim Burton in the American (Warner Bros.) movie production "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory”.
