He began acting in drama classes offered by after-school daycare in Southern California. As an active sports enthusiast, Ellingson was asked to skate for the Vans PeeWee team and eventually do a commercial for the Vans company. He later did a trilogy of short films for a director who wrote the part with Ellingson in mind. Giuseppe Tornatore cast him in his first big break along side Philppe Noiret. Evan then landed a couple of guest spots on Mad TV, and then a regular role on Titus established him as a talented comedic young actor. Later, as "Young Luke" on General Hospital, he explored more serious acting.
In the "Complete Savages" Ellingson portrays 14-year-old Kyle, a highly energized, mischievous and self-interested boy who believes Johnny Knoxville should be the next president of the United States. His goal is to be a contestant on Fear Factor.
His film credits include Rules of the Game, Time Changer, Tollhouse, Hole in the Water, Suburban Tale and The Gristle. Ellingson's theatre experience includes performing in Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Grease and A Dickens Tale.
