Emily McLaughlin (December 1, 1928 - April 26, 1991) was an American soap opera actress.
She was born in White Plains, New York, where her father was mayor. She was educated at Middlebury College.
She was briefly married to actor Jeffrey Hunter before his untimely death in 1969. She was also married to actor Robert Lansing from 1956 to 1969, with whom she had a son.
From 1963 to 1991, she starred in the soap opera General Hospital as "Nurse Jessie Brewer", the trusted confidant to John Beradino's lead character, "Steve Hardy".
Her character in General Hospital was phased out in 1985, and was essentially replaced with that of "Ruby Anderson" (played by actress Norma Connolly). As the 1980s progressed, her health began failing. In 1984, she asked to work less, due to her health. By 1986, she was only shown on the serial a couple of times a year. She would continue with this schedule until her death from cancer in 1991, aged 62. Shortly after her passing, Jessie's death was written into the show.
Emily McLaughlin is interred next to Jeffrey Hunter in the Glen Haven Memorial Park cemetery in Sylmar, California.
