Weston appeared in Broadway theatre productions of Toys in the Attic, A Far Country, and Mary, Mary, among many other productions.
Her first notable television role was a stint as Robin Fletcher on daytime soap opera The Guiding Light from 1963 to 1964, followed by another daytime role as Karen Gregory on the now-defunct Another World.
Weston's subsequent acting resume consisted of occasional appearances in primetime television shows such as Get Smart, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Bewitched, Bonanza, Wonder Woman, S.W.A.T., and The Bob Newhart Show.
Weston's first writing gig was as a staff writer for the now-defunct daytime soap opera Capitol. She was hired to write a number of made-for-TV movies, including Lies Before Kisses, See Jane Run, The Disappearance of Vonnie (starring Guiding Light star Kim Zimmer), and the 1999 movie As The Beat Goes On: The Sonny and Cher Story. She also served as a producer for several of those movies.
In 2003, John Conboy, then the executive producer of Guiding Light, hired Weston, who had worked for him at Capitol, as Head Writer. Weston's reign as writer proved to be incredibly unpopular with fans, especially regarding Weston's central story, the Maryanne Carruthers mystery. The story brought noted actress Carrie Nye, a friend of Weston's, back to the show. But the story closely resembled another story told on GL twenty years earlier, and rewrote a major chunk of history for five characters for a time period that they had all been on the air. One actor, Peter Simon, left the show at the conclusion of the story. After new executive producer Ellen Wheeler was hired in 2004, Weston was replaced with David Kreizman.
Weston married Ami Hadani on September 8, 1963. They have one son, Jonathan Weston a Broadway Sound Designer.
