Edward Zwick (born October 8, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film director and film producer. He received an A.B from Harvard in 1974. He attended the AFI Conservatory and graduated with an M.F.A. degree in 1975.
He has been described as a throwback for his thoughtful filmmaking.

Along with Marshall Herskovitz, he runs a film production company called The Bedford Falls Company. This company has produced such notable films such as Traffic and Shakespeare in Love, and the TV shows thirtysomething, Once and Again and My So-Called Life.
He was one of the recipients of the Academy Award for Best Picture for Shakespeare in Love, he was also nominated for it for Traffic.
